Local Naming Ceremony (Kumasi - Cape Coast - Accra)
The Akan people of Ghana frequently name their children after the day of the week they were born and the order in which they were born. These "day names" have further meanings concerning the soul and character of the person. Middle names have considerably more variety and can refer to their birth order, twin status, or an ancestor's middle name. This naming tradition is shared throughout West Africa and the African diaspora. During the 18th–19th centuries, enslaved people in the Caribbean from the region that is modern-day Ghana were referred to as Coromantees. Traditionally in Ghana, a child would receive their Akan day name during an Outdooring, a naming ceremony eight days after birth, however some Africans born in other countries are privileged to have the opportunity to receive their names in adulthood. Offered in 3 locations.

Harrison N. Dorfiah
Founder & CEOAfrica Ghana Tours all started from a conversation the owner had with his Uncle about the misconceptions some Ghanaians had toward black Americans in the diaspora. His uncle was the 1st to enlighten him that it was some of us who actually handed our own people over to slave owners to trade for personal profit. We realizing the important thing now is to create change. We now embrace that our extended family have remembered their culture and are able to visit and even relocate back to the motherland. Africa Your Home Awaits You!! This is An Unbeatable Value! AGT takes pride in helping Americans visit, tour and relocate to Ghana. Initially, I the CEO, Harrison Nuworza Dorfiah began guiding tours from the US, France, and Canada to Ghana personally. Since business has expanded we now assign private tour guides or destination specialist to all travelers. I’m fluent in English, Twi, and Ewe languages.
